The Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS) recently concluded its 11-month Global Strategy Programme (GSP) with the graduation of over 100 Members from 45 countries. As one graduate described it, this marked the end of “an extraordinary year of learning, reflection, and personal growth.”
Throughout the programme, Members engaged with a wide range of learning formats; lectures, panel discussions, and debates, delivered by an exceptional roster of speakers, from seasoned practitioners and policymakers to leading academics and writers. Case studies, strategic analyses, and immersive study tours spanning EU institutions, NATO, UK regions, industries, international organisations in Geneva, and overseas, enabling participants to explore the formulation, implementation, and critique of strategy across defence, security, diplomacy, and wider global affairs.
The GSP brought together the next generation of strategic leaders from around the world to examine how strategy is shaped in an increasingly complex and uncertain global environment.
Beyond academic enrichment, Members and staff alike reflected fondly on the friendships forged “some near, some now far, all lifelong.” As one Member put it, “Already missing the camaraderie, but ready for the next challenge, armed with a deeper understanding of strategic leadership."
Congratulations to all Members of the GSP2025 cohort. We look forward to following your journeys and welcoming you back at future RCDS alumni events.
